Millions of adults could improve their mood, energy, and overall wellbeing by taking a new Healthy Choices Quiz launched by the government and NHS. The quick, interactive online tool gives personalised advice on lifestyle changes that support mental and physical health.

The quiz, which takes around five minutes to complete, asks about nutrition, physical activity, sleep, smoking, alcohol, and mental wellbeing. Participants receive a score out of 10 and tailored guidance, along with links to free NHS resources such as the Active 10 app and the Every Mind Matters webpage.

Research from University College London suggests that 19 million adults in middle age could boost their mood by making simple, healthy changes. The quiz forms part of the government’s 10-Year Health Plan, which aims to shift the NHS from treating illness to preventing it and put people in control of their own health through digital tools.

Health Minister Ashley Dalton said:

“Taking this quick and easy quiz could be the first step for people to live healthier and happier lives. It brings expert NHS advice to your fingertips and helps people make simple, practical changes.”

The campaign is supported by TV and radio presenters Rickie Haywood-Williams and Melvin Odoom, who share personal stories about improving their health and highlight how the quiz has helped them make practical lifestyle changes.

Dr Radha Modgil, NHS GP and broadcaster, added:

“The Healthy Choices Quiz is a simple first step to understand where you’re at and make manageable changes that boost your energy, mood, and overall wellbeing.”

The quiz is free, mobile-friendly, and designed to empower adults — particularly those aged 40–60 and from deprived backgrounds — to take control of their health. It complements other NHS initiatives, including rewards for positive health behaviours and tools to support healthier routines.
